Nebiyan Mountain

Location and Elevation

Nebiyan Mountain rises about 20 kilometers south of the 19 Mayıs district center in Samsun, reaching 1,224 meters — one of the highest points in the region. Designated a tourism center by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, it draws nature lovers with its forests, plateaus, and water sources.

Paragliding and Nature Sports

Thanks to favorable thermal currents, Nebiyan Mountain plays an important role in the development of paragliding in the Black Sea Region, offering launch points suited for long-duration flights. Near the summit lie the remains of an old fire watchtower, and a small cave sits about 10 meters below the peak. The mountain is also popular for mountaineering, hiking, and photo safaris.

Visitor Information

Access is via the Samsun-Sinop highway to 19 Mayıs district, followed by about 20 kilometers of road leading to the mountain's slopes. Summer is the recommended season to enjoy its cool climate.

Vegetation and Views

Dense beech and hornbeam forests cover the mountain's slopes, giving way to alpine meadows higher up. On clear days, the summit offers sweeping views stretching toward the Black Sea coastline.
