A Beach on the Atakum-Bafra Road
Çatalçam Beach is a public beach on the Samsun-Bafra highway, at the western edge of Atakum. The sandy shore is about 350 metres long and 18 to 50 metres wide; the lack of heavy development in the area has helped keep its water relatively clean.
Blue Flag History
In 2015, Çatalçam Beach earned a Blue Flag for its cleanliness and environmental standards, and for a period was counted among Samsun's Blue Flag beaches. This history reflects the attention historically given to the beach's water quality.
Facilities
The beach has free changing cabins, showers and toilets. A walking and cycling path running along the shore, combined with shaded picnic areas, makes it a good spot to spend the whole day, not just for swimming.
Getting There
Reached from the city centre by following the Atakum coastal road, the beach is popular in summer with both locals and visitors to the region.
