A Nature Break Inside the City
Atakum City Forest is a roughly 17-hectare green area about 1 kilometre from the city centre, within the İstiklal neighbourhood. Registered on 2 November 2010, the forest offers a nature break in the middle of city life, with its ponds and shaded paths.
Walking Trail and Observation Tower
The forest has a walking trail about 1,200 metres long. At the end of the trail stands a 13-metre observation tower, from which visitors can take in a wide view of the Kızılırmak Delta, the Fish Lakes, the Bafra Plain and the Black Sea coast.
Picnic and Activity Areas
The forest is equipped with a car park, an information centre, picnic tables, sports areas, children's playgrounds and rain shelters. Cafeteria and restaurant options serve visitors looking for a break after a long walk.
