A Waterfall Hidden in the Forest

Gölalan Waterfall lies along a stream bed surrounded by dense forest near Gölalan village in Samsun's Canik district. Located about 18 kilometers from the city center, it is a popular spot for nature walks and photography.

Two Distinct Falls

While many small and large drops occur along the stream, two waterfalls stand out. The one closest to the village drops from about 5 meters and is framed by large rock formations, making it a favorite for photographers. Reaching the second and larger waterfall requires about a 30-minute walk upstream; it plunges roughly 10 meters into a small pool.

Getting There

Gölalan Waterfall can be reached via the paved road connecting to Gölalan village off the old Samsun-Kavak highway. The village is also known for its cherry trees and an old cypress tree at its center, so a visit to the waterfall can be combined with exploring the village. The stream's higher flow in spring and autumn makes the falls especially striking during those seasons.
