History

Samsun railway station was built in 1926 by the State Railways and Ports Administration as part of the Samsun-Kalın railway line linking the Port of Samsun to Central Anatolia. Comprising one side platform and one island platform, the historic station building is a notable example of the city's republican-era railway heritage.

Modernisation

A modernisation project begun on 29 September 2015 renovated the station building, which reopened to service on 1 November 2020. With nine tracks in total, the station now serves the Samsun-Amasya and Samsun-Sivas regional trains.

Visitor Information

Located on Fuar Caddesi in İstasyon neighborhood, the historic building — marked by its large "SAMSUN GAR" lettering on the façade — has become one of the city's landmark structures and, thanks to its proximity to the centre, a notable stop in İlkadım.
