Hamamayağı Thermal Spring

Overview

Hamamayağı Thermal Spring is a thermal source located in the Hamamayağı neighborhood of Samsun's Ladik district, close to the Samsun-Amasya highway. The spring water reaches the surface at about 37°C and has an alkaline, bicarbonate, oligometallic composition, with a measured flow of roughly 10 liters per second.

History and Cultural Value

Known to have a very long history, the spring is mentioned in Evliya Çelebi's Seyahatname (Book of Travels) and is popularly known as the "Water of Youth". In hydrogeological classification it is counted among Turkey's significant radioactive thermal springs, and the water is believed to be beneficial for rheumatism, neuralgia and certain skin conditions.

Visitor Information

Today a modern thermal hotel operates at the site, where visitors can enjoy the spring water in indoor pools year-round. Located about 7 kilometers from the center of Ladik, the facility forms a convenient day-trip thermal stop alongside Lake Ladik and the Akdağ Ski Center. Together with Havza Thermal Springs, it forms one of the province's two principal thermal tourism destinations, drawing visitors seeking a hot-water experience especially during the winter months.
