Overview

Ladik Plateau is a highland settlement on the slopes of Akdağ, about 7 kilometers from the center of Ladik district. Sitting at roughly 1,500 meters above sea level, it is one of the district's main retreats for cooling off during the summer months.

Access and Life

The road up to the plateau is passable by any type of vehicle, making it accessible both for day-trippers and for those wishing to stay overnight in a plateau house. Wooden plateau houses suitable for accommodation are found in the area, and the plateau has its own water source. Local families still practice traditional seasonal transhumance in summer, moving up with their livestock during this period.

Nature and Scenery

Meadows spreading across the slopes of Akdağ, surrounded by pine and black pine forest, give the plateau its cool air and wide views. From the plateau, the mountainous terrain of the region can be observed across a broad angle. It is a suitable stop for hiking, camping and photography.

Nearby Sights

Known collectively with neighboring plateaus as the "Ladik Plateaus," the area serves as a natural escape from the summer heat of coastal Samsun. It can easily be combined with the nearby Akdağ Ski Center and Lake Ladik for a single day trip.
