According to ancient Greek mythology, the Amazons, a nation of warrior women, were believed to have lived in the Thermodon basin near Samsun, today's Terme River. Inspired by this legend, Amazon Village now welcomes visitors as an open-air museum on a small island within Batı Park in the İlkadım district.
